MANUEL FOIS

Manuel Fois (1995) explores the concept of language transmigration and the relationship between virtual and physical images through painting, multimedia installations, and data-driven 3D objects. In our technology-driven era, his research begins with long audio recordings made using everyday devices like microphones, smartphones, and voice assistants. These recordings are condensed into graphic spectra, which Fois reproduces on mirrored surfaces and black glass using silk-screen printing. Each work visually translates the original audio, using reflection and opacity to explore the dual nature of language in the digital age.
In addition to his paintings, Fois employs data analysis to extract 3D coordinates directly from the sound data, translating auditory information into printable 3D sculptures. These organic sculptural objects add a new dimension to his practice, where sound generates not only visual but also tactile, 3D pieces. This approach explores the intersection of sound and materiality, creating forms that reflect the dynamic and fluid nature of sound beyond the visual realm.
Fois’s meticulous process bridges auditory, visual, and spatial realms, capturing the nuances of human expression in both tangible and digital forms. His artworks embody the fluidity of language and sound, preserving their transient nature in enduring visual and sculptural formats.
Manuel Fois lives and works in London. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Selected solo/group exhibitions: Galleria 10 A.M.
