LOLO Y SOSAKU
Lolo & Sosaku were born in Buenos Aires, Argentina (1977) and Tokyo, Japan (1976), and currently live and work in Barcelona, Spain. Their artistic practice investigates the possibilities of sculpture as an expanded field, constantly pushing and blurring the boundaries of their medium. Through their work, they explore the tension and friction between objects, their surroundings, and the spectator, aiming to create new meanings from these interactions.
Working across diverse artistic languages, including sculpture, installation, kinetic art, and painting, Lolo & Sosaku often incorporate music and sound into their creations. Their approach is one of transformation, where their machinic materiality transcends into mysticism and the unknown. Electronic music plays a key role in their inspiration, translating complex auditory languages into sound installations and sculptural compositions. These motion sculptures perform autonomously, generating their own voice through unpredictable, continuous transformation.
Their work has been exhibited and performed at prestigious venues such as the Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid, Spain), MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (Spain), PSA Power Station of Art (Shanghai, China), MIS Museu da Imagem e do Som (São Paulo, Brazil), and Sónar (Barcelona, Spain), among many others. Their artistic exploration spans multiple horizons, redefining boundaries and investigating the hidden energies and forces that shape life in our technological age.
